This toy was invented by my 16yr old sister (bottom pic). She made up the pattern, completely out of her head. My brother turned the stand for her on the lathe, so it's all rounded, soft and smooth. The bottom (largest) ring has a cute little tail stitched on it, the middle ring (medium) is the belly, the top ring (smallest) has two little arms. The head has a lined hole that fits on top of the pole with baby-ease. All the rings, tail and arms are easy for babies to grip and perfectly safe for them to chew and play with!
From the bottom of the stand to the top of his head, he measures 9.5″ The base of the stand measures 5.5″ across.
The monkey is knit in a soft Peruvian Highland wool and stuffed with our own clean, washed fluffy wool from our little flock of black Icelandic sheep! The wool is from this year's harvest, which was super clean because they were on grass this summer. I sheared and washed it myself with plenty of TLC!
Wool is the perfect choice for toys, because it warms up against the body heat of the child's little hands and is slightly heavier, making the toy feel all the more life like. I've already noticed my little sister seems to really prefer these toys over previous polyester-filled ones that I've made her. Wool also repels dust and mites and is very healthy, clean and natural feeling; soft and warm.
Hand wash with care! Swish in warm soapy water, rinse gently and squeeze out the water. Lay flat to dry.

I really wish we could offer this toy for less, because I would LOVE for every baby to experience the sheer joy of natural play things, but unfortunately, the natural materials are expensive and hard to come by and the hours of craftsmanship in this toy are many. I do feel it's worth every penny, but I also wish every baby could have one! 🙂
