“What are you makin' Mary?” My 2yr old sister asked, leaning across my knees as I pulled out my knitting needles. “I'm gonna make a toy for a sweet little girl somewhere–just like you,” I told her, “what do you think I should make?” Without the slightest hesitation, she quickly cried: “Mowre howses!! You should make, like; bwack ones, and bown ones and bue ones…”
“Blue horses?” I questioned, with a raised brow. “Yup!” says she confidently, in all her 2yr old adorableness.
So, I picked out a pretty bluish breed to replicate, which happened to be the spotted Silver Dapple. The next day, when I'd finished 'Starlight' I called the 2yr old back in and showed her. She laughed out loud and immediately asked if she could “babysit her,” and assured me she'd be sure to be “realldy cawful” with her. 😉 (Don't worry; she's going to be thrilled Christmas morning to find her own pony sticking out of her Christmas stocking! Shh! ;))

I named this cute little pony 'Starlight' for the speckled dappling coloring on her back. She stands about 7″ tall and around 8″ long. She's firm enough to stand on her own, and even carry a rider!
All her pieces are securely stitched on, making her a safe, fun, little friend for your child! Simple Waldorf inspired features make for more imaginative, creative, child play.

All natural: Starlight is knit out of 100% soft Peruvian Highland wool, and is stuffed with clean, fluffy wool from our very own flock of sheep! 🙂 (To see the wool stuffing process, check out the bottom picture: 1. First cuddle the soft sheepie to reassure em. 😉 2. Then shear the wool off their back. 3. Next, carefully wash the wool several times. 4 Card the wool into fluffy bats. 5. Stuff wool into knitted body to bring the life into the toy. 6. Finally: let the baby play and snuggle to his/her heart's content! 🙂
Wool is the perfect choice for toys, because it warms up against the body heat of the child's little hands and is slightly heavier, making the toy feel all the more life like. I've already noticed my little sister seems to really preference these toys over previous polyester-filled ones that I've made her. She was sweetly asking me if she could 'babysit' them before they were even done, snuggling them while she had a story read to her and enjoying the natural warmth against her body. 🙂 (I couldn't believe how warm it was when she gave it back!)
Hand wash with care! Swish in warm soapy water, rinse gently and squeeze out the water. Lay flat to dry.
