HUNGRY GIRAFFES is a stained glass mosaic wall hanging done via the direct method which means that each shard of glass is cut and then glued onto a wooden background, in this case onto birch wood, before the grouting process begins.
People often ask how long it takes to make a mosaic. Well, I never time it with a stop watch, but each mosaic that I create takes me over a month and sometimes a few to create. It is very time consuming, but so fun to see in the end!
I had always wanted to do a giraffe mosaic as I thought that the patterns on giraffes would make for an interesting mosaic! I envision this piece hanging in a child’s room perhaps, as they love animals!
This mosaic is ready for hanging and has been signed.
