This knife began its life as an ordinary, high-carbon railroad spike. Each spike in my shop is spark-tested to determine whether it is high-carbon or mild steel. The high-carbon spikes are set aside for knives, while the mild steel spikes become bottle openers, grilling forks, corkscrews, etc.
Each knife is entirely handmade. The knife is hammered and shaped in the tradition of blacksmiths of many centuries. After the forging process is completed, the blade is hand filed and sanded. The knife is then heat treated for hardness and temper. The tempering process brings about the colors that you see in the blade.
The item that you are purchasing is similar to the item in the photo. It will have the same twist in the handle and the same shape blade. If you are interested in a different type of knife or different features, please contact me and I will give you a quote for the knife that you are interested in.
